The APPL Convention and Trade Show will be held February 24-28, 2008 in Denver, Colorado. Attendees of this annual gathering represent nonprofit public land organizations and their agency partners from across the country. They work together through partnerships to enhance visitors’ experiences on public lands, helping to connecting people to their natural and cultural heritage. Convention Tote Bag

Put your organization’s logo in the hands of all convention participants and guarantee that it is seen throughout the duration of the week. The bags are also a popular take-home item that attendees use after the convention, providing additional on-going exposure for your organization throughout the year. Involve your staff and gain even more visibility by helping to hand out the tote bags during registration hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Convention Name Badge Holders

Attendees wear their badges the entire convention week, so your organization’s logo will be front and center. Badge holders are a popular attendee item because they have a handy pocket to store business cards, money and other essentials. (Note: convention exhibitors will be issued different badge holders).

Convention Bag Gift Items

Get the attention of attendees by providing them with a special gift or promotional item from your company in their convention tote bags. Preferred convention tote bag gift items include, but are not limited to, a pen, mints, chap stick, thumb drives, reusable travel mug, disposable camera, water bottle and holder. Sponsors are responsible for providing gift item in addition to the sponsorship amount. Sales collateral material cannot be accepted. Specific quantities and shipping information will be provided to sponsor in late January.


Educational Programming

Audiovisual and equipment for educational programming

Let your logo be the first thing attendees see when they enter concurrent educational sessions. Help provide funding to sponsor audiovisual equipment that aids in the quality educational program we have planned and have your organization’s name and logo on the display screen as the opening visual at sessions using power point presentations. Organization will also be recognized with onsite signage.

Keynote Speaker, Patty Limerick

Patty Limerick is the Faculty Director and Chair of the Board of the Center of the American West. She will speak on Monday, February 25th about the under-used power of public lands to improve human nature. Read more about Patty at www.centerwest.org/about/patty/index.php. Organization will be recognized at the opening of the general session and have the opportunity to have a representative introduce Patty Limerick.

Keynote Speaker, Philip Smartt

Philip Smartt is an Associate Professor of Natural Resources Management at the University of Tennessee. His keynote on Tuesday, February 26th will explore “Who is Generation Y?” Organization will be recognized at the opening of the general session and have the opportunity to have a representative introduce Philip Smartt.

Each convention participant receives an onsite program with information needed to plan their convention schedule. Organization’s name and logo will be prominently featured on the program.

Educational Track Series

Associate your organization with one of the five educational tracks offered at the convention (Partnerships, Fundraising, Outreach, Earned Income, and Management and Governance). Refer to the convention registration booklet to read more about the sessions and speakers for each of the tracks.

Events

Opening Reception

 $15,000 or 2 @ $7,500

This special event will be held at the Colorado History Museum Sunday, February 24th from 6:30 – 8:30 pm to welcome approximately 450 attendees and exhibitors to the 2008 APPL Convention. Join in on the excitement of networking with attendees as the convention begins during this reception. Gain exposure with attendees by having large onsite signage at the event, logo on beverage napkins, 10 complimentary tickets for your representatives to participate and greet attendees as they enter the event (you may provide and hand out a gift bag or item if logistics are coordinated prior to event). The Museum will be open for attendees to tour during the evening and discover the diversity of Colorado from its earliest inhabitants to its pioneer families, with feature exhibits on life and culture in the American West. In addition, we will work with sponsors on additional ways to leverage your organization during this event.

Shuttle Buses for Opening Reception

Greet and welcome attendees as they board buses at the Adam’s Mark Hotel on their way to the opening reception at the Colorado History Museum. This is a great way to interact with attendees at the start of the week by having representatives from your company on each of the buses to welcome attendees and provide a brief presentation during the short ride over to the opening reception. Sponsoring company will receive 5 complimentary tickets for your representatives to attend the opening reception and may also provide a small gift to each of the attendees as they board the bus.

Closing Banquet & Live Auction

 $6,000

This special evening will have an estimated attendance of 400 attendees and exhibitors who will celebrate the week with new and old acquaintances. A sit-down dinner with cash bar will be followed by a lively auction, raising support for APPL’s Education and Scholarship Fund. Organization’s logo will be incorporated to the decorations/theme for the evening, which will highlight the Baltimore 2009 APPL Convention and Trade Show location. Sponsor will receive recognition during the evening and has the opportunity to present attendees with a giveaway to get them excited about joining you and APPL in 2009 in Baltimore, Maryland (item(s) needs to be pre-approved by APPL). Organization may also participate in announcing a live drawing during the event.

APPL Media & Partnership Awards Ceremony & Bulletin

The APPL Media & Partnership Awards celebrates the achievements of America’s nonprofit public lands partners in publishing, product development, and programming. Sponsor the ceremony taking place the evening of Monday, February 25th and assist us in recognizing the talented efforts of those encouraging stewardship, providing enhanced learning opportunities for public land visitors, and developing programs to help preserve our natural and cultural heritage. Each sponsor receives 2 complimentary tickets, the opportunity to place an ad in the winners program handed out to all that attend this event (program is also posted to the APPL Web site afterwards) and logo displayed on large screens before and after the event.
