Please see the Registration materials for complete details. Coming Soon

What should I wear?
Dress throughout the convention is business casual. Business dress is recommended for the APPL Media and Partnership Awards Ceremony Monday night, as well as for the Closing Banquet on Wednesday evening.

Denver temperatures for the month of February range from a daytime high of 46°F to a nighttime low of 20°F. A coat and layered clothing are recommended.

What can I do before or after the convention to maximize my investment of time and resources?
Before the convention, review the educational offerings and special events in the registration materials, and make a draft list of what you’d like to attend. If you are participating in the convention as part of a team, plan on having each team member participate in different sessions, so you can compare notes later. Visit the APPL Web site and look at the Trade Show specials. Come prepared with draft orders and questions for the vendors. And, when you pack, be sure to bring lots of business cards to exchange with other participants and vendors.

After the convention, type up any notes or new ideas gained and share them with others back home. Make a list of just three new things you’d like to implement in the coming year that you learned or were inspired to do as a result of your convention experience, and put them on your planning calendar. Follow up with individuals you met. A simple e-mail can remind new acquaintances that you enjoyed meeting them, learned from the experience, and are willing to share resources and information in the future. And check out APPL’s Newswire and Web site for follow-up information from the convention.

What is unique about this convention that I won’t find elsewhere?
The APPL convention is focused to building and enhancing partnerships in the public lands community. Within this context, participants learn and network with others who share a commitment to engaging the public with their natural and cultural heritage. Nonprofit concepts such as board responsibilities, fundraising, and volunteerism are delivered within the context of these special partnerships and mission. Effective concepts in interpretive product development, interpretive sales, and educational programming are offered to improve earned income and educational programming among partners. Exhibitors at the Trade Show bring products unique to the public lands community, backed with an understanding of how their products complement the goals of the agencies and their nonprofit partners.

Will any of the sessions be offered online or at other conferences?
APPL does not record any of the presentations for online delivery following the convention. APPL occasionally delivers workshops at conferences delivered by like-minded organizations, but these are usually customized to the attendees at those events. APPL does offer customized fee-for-service workshops and training. For more information about such opportunities, contact our education coordinator, Krista Muddle at kmuddle@appl.org.

you are interested in on your registration form and you will receive additional information by e-mail in February about signing up for specific time slots during the convention. APPL Members applying for Scholarships are encouraged to volunteer their time in exchange for financial support to attend the convention.
