About APPL
OUR VISION
Who will ensure that the nation’s parks, monuments, public
lands, and historic sites—the special places carefully set
aside and protected by our government—will serve the
demands placed on them by society in the twenty-first
century? These places preserve a vibrant record of our
nation’s cultural and natural landscape, offering
Americans and citizens of the world unique opportunities to
know first-hand and appreciate the course of our history,
the struggles and achievements of our people, the wonder and
diversity of this nation’s cultural and natural
environment.
Protecting these places and continuing to communicate their
meaning are vital to the preservation of our national
heritage. This is an increasingly daunting task that
government cannot perform alone, one that will require the
dedication and persistence of many hands and generous
hearts.
The Association of Partners for Public Lands has a pivotal
role in helping our members realize the boundless
possibilities that exist in our collective abilities to join
with government in a dynamic and multi-faceted partnership
that will sustain the legacy of America’s cultural and
natural landscapes for generations to come.
OUR VALUES
We share a dedication to the educational principles of our
agency partners.
We believe that we all share a responsibility for the
successful interpretation and stewardship of public lands
and cultural resources, and that we can best accomplish that
end through dynamic and empowered partnerships between
government and the not-for-profit sector. Such partnerships
will foster a shared vision and dedication to a common
purpose while creating a diverse community of supporters
whose potential for continuing political and financial
support holds significant promise.
We believe that our business must always ultimately support
the stewardship of the natural and cultural resources
entrusted to our partners and members.
OUR MISSION
Through education, information, and representation, the
Association of Partners for Public Lands enhances the
potential of its member not-for-profit organizations to
provide the highest levels of program and service to public
agencies entrusted with the care of America’s natural and
cultural heritage.
